This one is for all the ping pong players out there. Did you ever wish you had a machine that you can just throw your ping pong ball on and just watch it bounce endlessly? If so, your wish came true. Spotted on Arduino blog during one of our late night reads, We found maker “tkuhn” of Electron Dust. Tkuhn made this machine to have one main purpose, “The sole goal of keeping a ping pong ball bouncing for as long as possible.”
To achieve this, he turned to use of audio feedback. Here’s how it works, the time difference between when four electret microphones sense the sound of the bouncing ball. From there the audio processing is accomplished with the help of a straightforward flip-flop circuit, which then realizes on an Arduino Nano reset it after each cycle(bounce).
The Data is then processed through an Arduino Uno, which then utilizes four steppers motors/drivers and a linkage system to keep the ball going. This crazy setup can be seen in the video below, and you can also check out the source code over at GitHub.
